Sterling

Dean hadn’t been fully awake when he called me Daddy. I knew that, but it still sent the blood racing to my cock. I went into the kitchen and took my time getting us both something to drink. Did he do it on purpose? Did he do it on instinct? Did he have a Daddy and, in his half-awake state, assumed I was him? If he had a Daddy, where was he? I needed to know, but I didn’t want to spook him, so I went with the next best thing. I grabbed my phone and called Chance. He answered pretty quickly.

“Hey, Sterling, everything okay?” I heard the worry in his voice. I knew he and Dean were close, and this last ride had really scared Chance. It hadn’t turned out to be half as bad as it seemed, but it had looked brutal.

“Yeah, things are fine here. Dean’s sleeping on the couch. We were watching a movie and he conked out.”

“Why aren’t you at work?”

“I took a couple weeks off. I wanted to make sure Dean was okay before I went back,” I said.

“Umm, Sterling, what’s going on? It was weird enough that you insisted I go back to the circuit and let you pick him up, but you never take off work.”

“Okay, so maybe I had an ulterior motive when I agreed to pick him up. Is he seeing anyone?”

Chance burst out laughing. “Oh my god. You have got to be kidding me.”

I listened to him laugh for a minute and then said, “No, I’m not kidding. Is he seeing anyone?”

“No, Sterling, he isn’t seeing anyone. He hasn’t had anything even close to serious in a few years, about the time he started coming home with me. He had someone before then, but it didn’t work out. They’re still good friends, though.”

I debated how much and what to say but decided that telling him his best friend called me Daddy might not be something Dean would want him to know.

“Okay, I wanted to make sure. I didn’t want to pursue him if there was some cowboy out there waiting for him to return.”

“Nope, no cowboy here waiting, but Sterling, Dean is… well, special. He isn’t like most cowboys. I don’t want to say too much, but you should know, he isn’t what people expect, especially not from a bull rider.”

“What do you mean?”

“Look, there’s this impression among rodeo fans that bull riders are the tough and rough cowboys, you know? And don’t get me wrong, you do have to be physically tough to ride a bull, but Dean isn’t like most bull riders. He’s physically tough, but he’s soft in other ways. I can’t really explain it without saying too much. I just wanted to warn you, if you think you’re getting some alpha male cowboy with Dean, you’d be wrong.”

“Chance, you know me better than that. Can you honestly see me with another alpha male?”

“Well, no, I mean that would be a hell of a lot of testosterone to deal with.
